BHA give priority to residents of Chittenden County for certain types of rental assistance and project-based housing.

There are income-level requirements. Please click this link to find out if you qualify: Financial Qualification.

You can apply by picking up an application from our main office at 65 Main Street, Burlington, VT 05401 or by downloading the application using the link at the bottom of the page. You must fill our the application completely in order to apply for rental assistance/housing.

• If you wish to add a person to your household, please complete a new application and provide the social security card for that person.
• If you wish to remove someone, please come to our office.
• If you need to update your physical and/or mailing address, please come to our office.
  
• If your income changes, please call or come to the office

BHA maintains several waitlists that vary in length. BHA will contact you by mail only when your name comes up on a waitlist. Annually, BHA sends a letter to confirm you are still interested in remaining on all waitlists for which you are eligible. Be sure to respond to this letter or you will be removed from all waitlists. It is critical to keep your address on file with BHA current to ensure you receive these time-sensitive notices.

BHA has coordinated with community partners to provide short videos on tips to be a successful tenant related to the care of your apartment. Those videos are translated into multiple languages and are available here. There are interpretations in the following languages: English, Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, Mandarin, French, Kirundi, Burmese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepali, Maay Maay, Somali, and Ukrainian.

You must provide a Social Security card for everyone in the household who is listed on the application.

Only individuals for whom you have signed and submitted a release form may contact BHA on your behalf.
