Multifamily Housing
Our Multifamily Housing is available for families with Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) Vouchers, which are rental subsidies attached to affordable housing developments that BHA owns or manages.
What is Multifamily Housing?
BHA provides rental subsidies that help approximately 250 families in our community through the PBRA program, which is administered by HUD's Multifamily Division. Subsidies under this program are tied to specific units in Multifamily properties managed by BHA and are available to residents residing in those units.
To be eligible for this form of subsidized housing, applicants must income qualify at the current income limits, based on the number of people in the household. The tenants receive the benefit of the subsidy for as long as they live in the subsidized unit and continue to income qualify. If a tenant chooses to move, the subsidy stays with the apartment and is not portable with the tenant. As with other rental subsidy programs, tenants residing in a Multifamily subsidized unit pay only 30% of their household income toward the contract rent and utilities.
